Sworn translation of degrees and diplomas
A degree is often submitted with a transcript, curriculum, study-hours certificate or other attachments. The recognition authority, university or employer decides which pieces and which form of translation it needs.
What must be visible in the file
- Holder’s name and full title of the qualification
- Institution, date, signatures and seals
- Front and reverse of the diploma
- Supplement, transcript and attachments submitted with it
Validity and format
Degrees do not normally expire, although the copy may need an apostille, legalization, certification or electronic verification.
Typical use
It may be used for degree recognition, equivalency, academic admission, professional registration or employment.
Before translation
How to request an assessment
Send the degree and all attachments together so the institution name, subjects, credits and grades remain consistent.
Frequently asked questions
Must the reverse side of the diploma also be translated?
Yes, if it contains seals, numbers, conditions or any other information. Send both sides for the quote.
Is a sworn translation the same as recognizing the degree?
No. Recognition or equivalency is decided by the competent authority; the translation forms part of the supporting documents.
Can you preserve the diploma layout?
The sworn translation reproduces the structure needed to identify the content. If you need additional layout work, mention it when requesting the quote.
