Sworn translation of a single status certificate
Not every country issues a document literally called a single status certificate. The same purpose may be served by a life-and-status certificate, certificate of no impediment, capacity-to-marry certificate or another civil-registry record.
What must be visible in the file
- Full name and current civil status
- The date or period covered
- Clearly visible issuing authority, signature and seal
- Apostille, legalization or multilingual attachment, if present
Validity and format
Authorities often require recent information about civil status, but there is no single time limit for every Civil Registry and marriage file. Follow the instructions of the authority handling the marriage.
